Programs & Activities

The Lennox Island Health Centre, in collaboration with community partners, offers several programs/activities that promote healthy lifestyle choices and support active living and family fun to prevent or reduce chronic disease.

All programs are available to on-reserve band members.

The health centre offers community members access to wellness sessions and other supports designed to promote healthy living. 

Wellness sessions focus on topics including, but not limited to:

  • diabetes,
  • cancer awareness,
  • heart health,
  • women’s health, 
  • men’s health, 
  • sexual health,
  • label reading, 
  • cholesterol and blood pressure, 
  • healthy eating on a budget, 
  • bone health, 
  • menopause, 
  • digestive health

The health centre, in partnership with the community dietitian, offers a variety of cooking classes, including baby food-making, ‘Meal Bag’, slow cooker meals, and freezer meals.

The health centre also supports and promotes other food programming offered in the community, including the School Food Lunch/Milk Program and the soup kitchen at The Shoppe (Sweetgrass).

Several fitness activities are offered in the community throughout the year, depending on the availability of instructors and demand. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Theraband exercise 
  • Movement for Arthritis
  • Mom and Baby Walk & Talk
  • Skate/Walk & Health Talks 
  • walking groups
  • fitness classes
  • yoga sessions

The Eagle Nest Gym

The Eagles Nest Gym is open to all community members free of charge. It is well-equipped with treadmills, stationary bikes, elliptical and strength training equipment and uses a FOB key system. There is a $10 deposit for the FOB.
